 History

The club was formed in September 1990 and can claim to be the oldest Synchro club in Leeds. Ian Watson started the club and is commended on his commitment to the sport and the club.

Rebecca Edmondson gave the club its first success when she won the Yorkshire Grade 2 competition 1999. The club continued to achieve when Sarah Speers came 18th in the 2001 National Age Groups at Sheffield Ponds Forge.

2003 saw Rebecca Edmondson become a level one teacher of the sport the first member of the club to achieve this qualification Rebecca also launched the City of Leeds Dolphin Awards  for Synchronised Swimming.

In 2004 the University of Bradford Synchronised Swimming Club amalgamated with the Pearls. Claire Macina (Morris) was the founder of UBSSC, helped by Sheila Gooch who has been dedicated to Synchro for many years and they both did an amazing job in starting the club from scratch. The club had huge successes, especially in team events.

When the clubs merged, due to Claire having her first daughter Isabelle, Pudsey where able to enter team events and Joelle Carr choreographed team routines which started the club's team achievements which Heba and Sarah are now continuing in coaching the combination event.

In 2005 Egyptian Olympic Duet Heba and Sarah Gawad from the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney joined the club and are a welcomed edition to the coaching team and we are extremely lucky to have such talented and experienced coaches as apart of the club.

2006 the club enters a team in the National Age Groups 19 and Under Recreational Free Combination and Sarah Speers competes in the GB Championships in the Solo Event achieving 13th position

2007 Sarah Speers achieves second place in the 17-18-19 age group figures

2008 the club assists with the formation of the City of Leeds Synchronised Swimming Club by allowing them to share water time
