The club
was formed in September 1990 and can claim to be the
oldest Synchro club in Leeds. Ian
Watson started the club and is commended on his
commitment to the sport and the club.
Rebecca Edmondson
gave the club its first success when she won the Yorkshire Grade 2
competition 1999. The club continued to achieve when
Sarah Speers came 18th in the
2001
National Age Groups at Sheffield Ponds Forge.
2003 saw
Rebecca Edmondson become a level one teacher of the
sport the first member of the club to achieve this
qualification Rebecca also launched the City of Leeds
Dolphin Awards for Synchronised Swimming.
In 2004 the
University of Bradford Synchronised Swimming Club
amalgamated with the Pearls. Claire Macina (Morris) was
the founder of UBSSC, helped by
Sheila Gooch who has been dedicated to Synchro for
many years and they both did an amazing job in starting
the club from scratch. The club had huge successes,
especially in team events.
When the
clubs merged, due to Claire having her first daughter
Isabelle, Pudsey where able to enter team events and
Joelle Carr choreographed team
routines which started the club's team
achievements which Heba and Sarah are now continuing in
coaching the combination event.
In 2005 Egyptian Olympic Duet
Heba and Sarah Gawad
from the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney joined the club
and are a welcomed edition to the coaching team and we
are extremely lucky to have such talented and
experienced coaches as apart of the club.
2006 the
club enters a team in the National Age Groups 19 and
Under Recreational Free Combination and
Sarah Speers competes in the
GB Championships in the Solo Event achieving 13th
position
2007
Sarah Speers achieves second
place in the 17-18-19 age group figures
2008 the
club assists with the formation of the
City of Leeds
Synchronised Swimming Club by allowing them to share
water time
