Escape from Alcatraz!

On
a very cold morning, dressed only in a swimming costume
and a bright orange cap, Joelle and Cat got on the boat
at
Pier 41 to Alcatraz, minutes later they were queuing up
to jump out from the side of the boat into a murky
looking 60 degrees F sea.
They were the least experienced swimmers
taking part;
most of the others were seasoned open water swimmers
complete with wet suits. Despite the cold, strange
creatures tickling their toes (baby sharks?) and the
strong tides, they completed the 1 and a half mile swim
in only 50 minutes, showing perfect synchronised ballet
legs as they were coming into shore, much to the delight
of the watching crowds!
So
far, this mad feat has raised £100.50 for the club. If
you promised to sponsor Cat and Joelle, please collect
the money and pass to Anita. What next? Any
suggestions for another sponsored event gratefully
received. |
